PostSecret: Pizza’s Here

This postcard from PostSecret on MySpace reminded me of my own secret.

PostSecret: Pizza\'s Here

When I used to go to Krispy Kreme on a regular basis, I used to bring in a paper with all the donuts that I wanted listed on it. Then when I went in, I would read them off as if I was picking up the donuts for a whole office of people instead of just for me. Of course, I did this because I wasn’t willing to go in EVERY day and order two donuts for myself.

Ironically, if I watch my points, I can work in two donuts a day and STILL lose weight.

Even worse, sometimes I’d end up eating more than just one or two donuts a day because the box full was siting there.

If I could somehow extract all the shame from my eating habits, I think I’d be a thinner person.

Every dieter has a few shameful past habits. I remember that before I started dieting, I’d skip breakfast in the morning and then lunch, all the while convincing myself that I’m being a good girl, and then go home after school and binge on chocolate bars and cookies and muffins without feeling an inch of guilt. Then I’d sit down to dinner, my stomach still full, and still manage to stuff down a gigantic bowl of rice, several huge deep-fried chicken drumsticks, and push away every vegetable dish in sight. And then right before midnight, I’d have a big bowl of watermelon and grapes and nuts and tell myself to be proud of the healthy stuff I’m eating. God.

Now I can’t even munch on a mandarin orange without having second thoughts.
