Juicing

VeggiesLaura,

Hi! I just found your blog via your husband’s site. Could you cover some material / links to info about juicing? I just received one for Xmas and I am very happy with the results! I can feel the difference after only a few days!

Thanks John

I didn’t know much about juicing, so I did a little research. It seems to be a bastion for far-fetched claims. There are websites that claim that drinking large quantities of fresh juice can do anything from cleansing your system to curing cancer. It was very hard for me to find a site that was positive about juicing that wasn’t trying to sell a juicer or a formula. Juicing for Health is an article from HealingDaily.com that gives you a good idea of the sorts of claims about juicing without trying to sell you anything.

Quackwatch has an article on the subject of juicing. They say, “There’s nothing wrong with including extracted juices in a diet that is adequate in fiber. But promoting them as alternatives to whole foods or as powerful healing agents is irresponsible.”

Personally, I like to eat. I can’t see grinding down all that food when I could be crunching it myself. I feel fuller when I have eaten something than when I drink it. It was the reason I had such a hard time adding milk into my diet because I didn’t want to drink my calories. The thought of grinding down all of those carrots instead of eating them just makes me feel a little disappointed.
