The Five Bite Diet

By Laura Moncur @ 5:00 am — Filed under:

Why Weight Around? Changing The Weight Loss Strategy at Amazon.comLong ago, I suggested that you didn’t need a Gastric Bypass surgery. All you needed to do is follow the diet that they prescribe to gastric bypass patients:

I was being SARCASTIC, but it looks like Dr. Alwin C. Lewis took me a little too seriously. With his book, Why Weight Around? Changing The Weight Loss Strategy, he suggests that you eat five bites of food at lunch, another five bites of food at dinner. He suggests that one of those ten bites should be “high quality protein.” You are allowed to drink any liquid as long as it’s calorie-free.

He suggests that his Five Bite Diet will reset your body and you’ll be able to survive on a smaller volume of food. He talks about it here:

He suggests using this diet for everything from obesity, to bulimia and even ANOREXIA. He actually said:

This diet gives you absolute CONTROL like you’ve never had before.

It’s almost like he is purposely appealing to the eating disordered among us. Unfortunately, it’s that kind of control that this diet would spawn a binge for months in me. I was joking when I suggested that the Gastric Bypass Diet might be a weight loss option, in order to show you that the surgery is a BAD idea. This Five Bite Diet, however, is taking itself seriously.

This is NOT a hoax. After three days, you do NOT feel hungry anymore. It is simply amazing! Humans are designed to eat this little and survive. Humans are supposed to eat small meals daily and then, if they find food, eat a larger meal. This is how our ancestors that were hunter-gatherers lived. Nowadays we are fooled into thinking we need more, but that is only because we’ve had more food, and stretched our stomachs to allow for it. This diet illustrates how we were designed to live. I’ve been on it, and it’s a miracle. After the 3rd day, I felt fine! If you have no self control, then this diet is impossible. So for those of us who have found a great solution to a huge problem, congratulations. Just try it. It will work.

I have been on this diet since June of 2009 and have lost almost one hundred pounds. I have never felt better. I am exercising and have become much more active in my everyday life. I have modified the five bites at times to three times a day or saved up bites for a special meal. It is much more flexible than it sounds. Both of my sisters are on it as well and have both lost significant amounts of weight with no negative side-effects….except having to buy new wardrobes.

This diet really isn’t that bad. It teaches you how to control portion and helps you lose weight FAST. There’s no reason why you have to lose 1-2 lbs a week. I can’t stick to a diet where I don’t lose at least 4 lbs a week because it’s just so darn frustrating. I prefer to lose it quickly. People say “Oh but the weight will come back on when you go off the diet” – doesn’t weight come back on when you eat unhealthy food and large quantities of it? This diet really gets you used to eating less so that when you’re off it, you don’t have a problem eating small portions.

I’ve been on this diet for 5 days and I’m amazed. The weight is coming off fast. I’m not that hungry. I have added 10-18 almonds to my daily intake. I can’t see ever trying another diet. It’s magic

I have been in this diet for 2 days and lost 3 pounds. It seems simple and I am eating healthy food for my 10 bites not junk food or fast food. Let keep updating our progress on this website because I can’t find anyone who had stayed on the diet and gotten down to their goal weight. I don’t know whether that means they abandoned the diet or just lost interest in posting.

I’ve been doing this for six days now and it’s really not that hard. Today was the first day where I got hungry though. The first 3 days weren’t bad at all. I see that some people have 5 bites 3 times a day. Did that slow down your weight loss at all? I would love to do that but I need to be slim by November, I’m going to Hawaii.
