Sharon,

The Nike+ has an accelerometer, which means it can tell how fast your foot is moving. If you lengthen your stride, your foot needs to move faster to cover that much ground. That's why the Nike+ is WAY better than a pedometer. I'm continually surprised at how well it works.

The only time it hasn't worked for me was when the battery in the foot pod was going dead.

Best,

I love Podrunner and like you have been using it for a while. What I'm concerned about is the accuracy of the Nike+ if I'm running at a sustained steps per minute. If I lengthen or shorten my stride over the course of a run while keeping the same spm the entire time, how would the Nike+ register I'm moving any faster or slower? Or am I missing something?

I'm so glad that you're talking about it. I used Podrunner Intervals to get myself started running up to a 5K and love it! I tell whoever I can about these podcasts.
