I am soooo shocked by the above comment about the WW leader advocating diet aids and fasting. I CAN ASSURE YOU THAT DOES NOT HAPPEN IN WW!!!! My first ww meeting was in 1970 as a young preteen in Ohio and throughout all the years following until now and I live in the South. I have lost 165 lbs on WW (still have it off) and have NEVER heard that! I've even had a leader advocate health so much that she prefered that we didn't get hooked on artifical sweetners! I learned to even use those in moderation. I just HAD to post to defend WW. They are the best at teaching someone how to make healthy lifestyle changes! You CAN trust any info at WW, and I agree, that leader needed to be fired!!!!!!

I was a weight watchers leader - and I assure you in our training Diet Aids were discourged. Alos if a person got below their safe weight - they were not allowed to continu- they ahd to gain weight. I am so sorry to hear of Patty's experience, but this is not the norm.

The meetings are not "guilt sessions" They are meant toshare ideas, struggles, support and motivate each other. It is not fair to judge all leaders and meetings because of 1 bad experience.

My sister who is 60 years old now, lost 40 pounds by following WW last year. I lost 20 pounds by following it, and did not attend meetings, while she did. I didn't have as much weight to lose, though, and am not a "meeting" type person, but I still found it an easy plan to follow. We both followed the points system, found that getting enough water was VITAL, lots of fiber every day and regular exercise and strength training as well. I did find that going out to eat is challenging, but you just have to change your thinking as to how much importance you put into food--if you want to be slim and fit, you may just have to make this eating plan a lifelong habit. It's worth it to me, because being lighter is also being more energetic, and that makes me so happy!! The plan works, and it's SAFE, nobody at WW promotes anorexia, that's just silly.

Dear Patti,
I too am sorry to hear about your sisters experience with weight watchers. I too agree with the other posters regarding WW. This is a fabulous program that promotes healthy weight loss. I have been to several meetings in my lifetime and only heard encouraging words at the meetings. Please sit in on a meeting before slandering WW.

Thank you so much for the xls charts. They are great! Can you please explain to me the "This Week I commit to" on the chart? I don't understand what information to put over the symbols of the days of the week and what goes into the corner boxes? Also, can someone please explain the old weekly points allowance "calculation chart" on the old "core" plan? How do you check off points beginning with 35? I don't know why this is so complicated to me. Thanks.

Lynne...as far as 'rejoining' WW as a lifetime member, my leaders have told me that once you are lifetime you are always lifetime. If you haven't been to a meeting for years, you should only have to pay a fee for one missed meeting to weigh in, and then depending on where you are currently relative to your goal weight, go from there. I would recommend going to your local center and chatting with the good people who work there. Good luck!! Joanne

I lost 30lbs. while being a lifetime member of WW. I did not attend a single meeting. I attended one years ago and felt it was like sitting around with a bunch of "foodaholics". If you love yourself and educate yourself, and exercise that is all you need to do. You have to want to better yourself in order to make change. Its simple eat healthy unprocessed foods, stop eating crap, we all know what that is ( cookies, cakes, salty foods, too much meat, alcohol,) and the list goes on. Get up and move, eat clean and give up loving food START LOVING YOURSELF!!!!!!!!!!!
