I was exactly the same, use to swim as a kid and left it behind me as an adult. Partly because I am not a strong swimmer and partly because as you say swimming lengths can be seriously boring. I guess you can spend time finding things that are entertaining for us as adults and other times I think it is important to let yourself go and just be a kid again. You can always put your sensible pants on again after! Although during the time in the pool just let your hair down a little and enjoy it. I never swim lengths anymore but put a ball, a net and a friend or two in the pool and you will be amazed at the fun you can have. It is also great exercise!

I LOVE swimming! It's definitely one of my favourite summer activities. I prefer swimming across a lake than swimming laps in a pool though. If ever I couldn't swim due to my eyesight, I'd look into laser eye surgery. Have you considered it? I have a few friends that have gone through the procedure and they say it was the best thing they'd ever done.
