I'm a guy that actually reads this blog for the fitness tips.

However, when I got into really good shape, it was before I was married with children. I used to have a poster of my ideal looking woman on the back of my door. And I would spend about 1/2-1 hour a day doing pushups and situps and no weight squats in front of that poster.

All for the wrong reason but in my mind, it was a goal. And I got into incredible shape so that I could obtain this dream.

It's still about goals. Just the goal of a college kid is different than the goal of a dad. But I guarantee you, if my wife let me hang that poster in the garage or anywhere in the house, I'd be in great shape.

But that's the opposite message of the postcard. My message was "I want to be in great shape so that I can obtain my dream girl". Now what wife wouldn't see that as a jerk move implying that she isn't my dream.

BTW. My wife is only motivated by me working out. There is a direct correlation to my level of fitness and hers. If I slack off, she does. If I work out in front of her, she's motivated. Kind of a work out buddy. I don't think that would be true if I was staring at a girl on a poster with huge knockers and a iron stomach.

There's a big difference between physical health and mental.

If he gets cancer, will she leave him? What about a car accident?

Is doing the right thing for the wrong reasons better than doing the wrong thing for the right reasons?

But, then again, it's his choice.
