Laura, I think we'd like to hear how exactly you would define 'food snob'; the definition is getting pretty vague on this blog.

If "eating for your hometown" is something you think is a worthwhile cause, then you're a food snob.

Hi Laura -

Do you not see the irony and hypocrisy in this post as compared to the "Food Snobbery" post?

You lambast Nike because you don't care about NYC and want to "run for SLC", but then you're so quick to judge people who want to eat "for" their hometowns.

Hi Laura,

I guess I can understand the frustration of people who live outside NYC. I actually don't live in the city, but just a couple of things to remember:

The New York City Marathon is arguably one of the most popular and important running events each year. Many people from all over the world make it their goal to run this marathon, so the game would make perfect sense.

Running is huge in NYC! There is a road race almost every weekend attracting peopole from all over the tri-state area and the country.

Most poeople in NYC don't own cars. That equates to about 8 million potential sneaker buyers. Other large cities like LA, Denver and Chicago don't have as much dependence on walking and public transportation.

Most of the people who actually can afford to live in Manhattan now, were not born anywhere near there but actually come in from the midwest and west coast, so there must be a demand to know more about the city.

Thanks for doing this site. I think it is a great resouce!
