Well, I eat when on vacation because I think this is the time when I am out of my normal routine and just like I am away from work, I am away from every other restriction that I/somebody imposes on me. Probably, that mentality is not the right one as this implies I am keeping a track of what I eat in routine life but I don't WANT it. So, I should want to keep track of my food intake what I eat before starting to do it and for that I need to know and convince myself as to why I want to do it. Then, it won't be an issue whether I am on my routine or I am on vacation...And being on vacation won't have any relation to what I choose out of the avaible options.

After losing my weight, I went on vacation and ate EVERYTHING. Several more vacations later, you learn that the only heavy thing you want to pick up once home is your luggage.

I went on my first out-of-town vacation in a VERY long time last month, and honestly ate better than I had at home.

Things that helped:

No soda! I swear I ended up being more focused on the savoriness of food.

Planning healthy breakfasts.

Being as physically active as possible. I rented a bike instead of a car.

Getting the small or half size of most things.

It boiled down to enjoying my food and keeping moving.

When we fly somewhere - and quite often that's for a conference for our daughter's disability - we go to a grocery store. We buy 2 styrofoam coolers (real cheap) and stock on milk, half & half for our coffee, yogurt, cheese and lite meat slices, buns, crackers, and loads of fruit. Oh, and a case or two of water. Our kids (and us) snack all day and if we go on a tour we pack food too. We do eat supper in a restaurant though - I gotta have one "real" meal in a day.

We also do try to be active in our travels - hikes and such. When we camp with relatives we also bring healthy alternatives (fruit, crackers...).

I planned not to use my FP that week till my vacation started

I write down everything.
I bring my dining out and food companion
I also look up line for any regional dishes that might be in the book
I have an exercise plan I write before each vacation.
I have half servings of food like wedding cake and then split the points in half.

One Vacation I even went to a meeting
Next time I might buy fruit veggies and diet soda for stays in the hotel room

I have a hard time with this, too -- mainly because when we travel, we visit family. It's so hard to deal with family expectations, especially when family members tell you that they have "planned healthy meals to help you!" and then you discover that their idea of healthy and yours don't coincide...

What I tend to do is focus on eating well at meals -- making choices that are satisfying and healthy -- and try (as much as possible) to avoid the snacking. I try particularly to control what I have for breakfast, because vacation breakfasts are HUGE and can sabotage my points levels right from the start! I try to splurge on at least one meal, because it is vacation! And I try to get in exercise -- at least some activity with a lot of walking, usually.

Oh, and when I'm on vacation or traveling, I use my activity points for food, which I usually don't.

Hi! Well, on our most recent vacation, Hubby and I ate a LOT of our meals at the Whole Foods grocery store. It was only a 15-minute walk from our hotel, and the selection, healthiness, and even price blew everything available at our hotel out of the water.

We also got a lot of takeout with friends, so I just stuck to salads and soups a lot of the time. We did have pizza one night, but I had so many Flex points saved up, I enjoyed a small piece without doing too much damage.

I also used the hotel gym and got a LOT of exercise. Hope this helps!
