I work in a hospital(in cardiology) and eating the food in the cafeteria would definitely put you in our unit! Each day, there is a selection of fried foods and some form of pasta that is way too salty for my taste. You can get the salad and the non-cream soups are usually available. They also offer healthy choice menu items and fruits, vegetables, yogurt, and cottage cheese. The hospital menu for patients is much better because almost all of our patients are on the "healthy heart" diet. Some have further restrictions but they aren't allowed fried foods. Patients complain that we can't even get them a ham sandwich, only turkey. So, the moral of the story is that it is better to be a patient than a visitor if you have to eat hospital food.
