I hardly ever see commercials, but I just saw this one yesterday or the day before. It is awesome and sooo true. I have been aware, of course, that advertising makes people feel bad about themselves, but now maybe the idea that even little girls are wishing they were someone they aren't will get into our collective unconcious. I stopped reading 17 magazine as teenager when I finally noticed the connection between reading the magazine and a self-esteem plunge. (Kind of like a sugar crash.) Even so, I can still get obsessed with improving. I've been experimenting with thinking that nothing is wrong with me, and it has made the connection between inferiority thinking and commerce abundantly clear. When I walked into several stores, I didn't know what to buy since I didn't need to fix myself anymore. It was awesome, and I'm so much more centered and focused on what I want.
