		<description>&lt;p&gt;Swimmers just press their index and middle fingers on their carotid artery and count for six seconds on the lap clock, subtracting one beat and multiplying by 10. If the first and last beats are not exactly on 0 and 6 seconds, you add  or subtract a few beats per minute based on the offset. Fast and cheap, no gadgets required.&lt;/p&gt;
